What we ate today – 09/07/12

This post is part of HomemadeMommy’s ‘what we ate today’ series.  I post what both I ate and what I fed my 3 year old daughter to give this community ideas on how to eat real food and that it is possible to feed a child REAL food.

Breakfast:

The Kiddo: goat yogurt, applesauce, blueberries, flax seeds, cinnamon and a fried local quail egg

me: two scrambled eggs and duck bacon from Countryside Family Farm and kraut (that I made with Johnson’s Backyard Garden red cabbage)

Snack:

The Kiddo: mangoes

Lunch:

The Kiddo: egg salad with homemade mayo, duck bacon, corn chips fried in coconut oil, kraut, babaganoush and peppers for dipping

Me: arugula salad with babaganoush, sardines, avocado, olive oil

Snack:

The Kiddo: dried cranberries

Family Dinner:

grilled lamb chops (marinated in balsamic, olive oil, garlic and rosemary) – we got a whole grass fed lamb recently from Sand Creek Farm

pommes persillade using the red potatoes I bought at the Farmers Market this week

kale chips – kale has so nicely reappeared in our Johnson’s Backyard Garden CSA box again despite the awful heat!

Persimmon ice cream with local persimmons from the Farmers Market
