Have you been wondering if you can make easy to peel hard boiled eggs in your pressure cooker / Instant Pot (what is an Instant Pot?)? I bet you didn’t know that hard boiled eggs in a pressure cooker like the Instant Pot will render you hard boiled eggs that are SO EASY to peel…even eggs fresh from your own chickens? Like literally no peeling issues – the peel just comes right off?! I am so THRILLED I finally tried this this morning!
Here are the easy to do instructions for Instant Pot lovers…
Easy to Peel Hard Boiled Eggs in the Instant Pot
Ingredients
- 3 pastured eggs (preferably from your own chickens although mine were from a good friend’s!)
- 1 cup water (I use filtered)
Directions
Place the metal rack that came with your Instant Pot in the bottom of the pot. Pour in the cup of water. Place about 6-8 eggs (whoever many will fit) on the rack. Close the lid and hit ‘Manual’.
Set for 6 minutes. Once it beeps, let it count up to 6 minutes and then, using a towel, release the valve and it should only take a few seconds to release. Open the lid and place the eggs in an ice water bath for about 6 minutes. Peel and eat! You will be amazed at how easy these hard boiled eggs peel! I am in SHOCK!
I am making these to make my beet borscht recipe and so next I am pressure cooking some whole beets which I haven’t even peeled yet. Stay tuned for how that goes!

Please read cooker instructions for beets. I know pressure cookers have come a long way since the fifties…but, I vividly remember our neighbor being severely burned when a pressure cooker blew the lid off while cooking beets. The beet skins blocked the vent or something to that effect. am

This kind of thing only happens if you manually release the pressure. Thank you!

I saw this after looking at the tutorial you did and am curious about the amount of time it takes to pressurize the pot when you’re hard boiling eggs. 30 mins for a 90 min roast is okay, but 30 mins for 6 minute eggs wouldn’t be. 🙂
Lindsey Gremont says
It doesn’t take that long. I think in total this took me about 20 min this morning!

Lindsay…can you do more than 6 eggs at a time? I got my instant pot for Christmas and love, love, love it so far!
Lindsey Gremont says
Sure can!
