So I know my last blog post was over a month ago but I am still here and I wanted to give you an update on what I have been up to! I am just going to come out with it. We do have some exciting news…a #homemadebaby is ON THE WAY!!! You were amazingly supportive when this happened back in February. I really felt so much LOVE on that day and I truly appreciated all of your kind messages and comments.
I have to be honest…I actually do not know my due date yet. Going in to my first ever midwife appointment this morning I was pretty sure I was around 7 weeks along. But something didn’t seem right about that number. I mean…NONE of my pants fit and I already had to buy some new bras over a week ago…and I have a very cute little bump already this week. So something wasn’t adding up. I was pretty sure I was going to announce things anyway since I am headed to Utah next week to hangout with 18,000 people (probably YOU among them) and since my clothes don’t fit and my boobs are so big and I am SO TIRED and hungry ALL THE TIME, I figured it would be pretty obvious. But I still just felt funny announcing things so publicly so early…you know?
Anyway…back to the midwife appointment. You see I am really exploring a home birth this time around…I have never told you my birth story with my now 7 year old daughter and let’s just say it was less than rosy. It is one of the main reasons why I waited so long to ever try to get pregnant again! I was telling the midwife the timing of how far along I thought I was and everything and mentioning I might want to tell people. She said why not try to listen for the heartbeat? She assured me we likely wouldn’t hear anything because it was so early (by my estimation mind you and I do not have a good memory anymore) but it was worth a shot. She said we normally can’t hear a heartbeat via doppler until 10 weeks along.
So we made the attempt and lo and behold…we both heard it loud and clear! I could hear my baby’s heartbeat…already?! She asked me to think hard about my dates…and so I did and we brainstormed and basically I was WRONG. We are pretty sure right now I am somewhere between 10-11 weeks along!
So when’s the due date?
Well that is a question mark and I things might become clearer at my first ultrasound (my only one will be around 18 weeks G-d willing) but likely early January, 2017 would be my due date! We are all MORE THAN THRILLED with this news! I am feeling much better after a few weeks of feeling very nauseous. I am still EXHAUSTED in the afternoons but I feel a weight has been lifted because 10 weeks ‘fits’ a lot better than 7. I definitely was surprised but this makes much more sense. And for all of my friends who were with us in Hawaii in May…sorry…this isn’t a ‘Kona baby’…seems this baby was in the oven before that! We just didn’t know!
So there you have it – #homemadebaby will make an appearance sometime around the end of 2016 or early 2017!
I will post more updates as I know them and also be blogging about why I am exploring a home birth (if I can keep my head up long enough to write a thoughtful post!). I cannot wait to see my Young Living family next week in Salt Lake City and with any luck I will see YOU at my Expo session on Friday afternoon (you’ve got the schedule I am sure). Hopefully they give me a stool to sit on and I remember what I want to say! So if you stop me to say hello and I am running past you it is probably because I have to pee and you don’t want to get in the way of a pregnant lady on the way to the ladies room do you? It doesn’t mean I don’t love you! <3
AHHHH!! SO EXCITED!

Yay for exploring home birth! My 5th was born at home last October. Congratulations! Genevieve’s videos on all things prego and birth and Jim Bob’s on daily intentional support were so helpful.

OMGEEEEEEEE! I want to say on one of the recent live post you did I thought your face had changed a bit of shape, which in most cases of a pregnant lady it does get a bit fuller, you were just glowing as well, which was my second thought, hmmm. I thought the thought and said a quick prayer for you. Can’t wait to hug you and homemadebaby#2 at convention.

I’m so happy for you Lindsey! FWIW, my last two children were both home water births. It was a completely different experience than my first one in a hospital. It was just so peaceful, natural and relaxing. However, in the end, the only thing that matters is a healthy mama and baby! Whatever happens, I will be praying for both of those things for you and the sweet little one to come!

Congratulations. I had 2 home births (quite a while ago – 1983 & 1985) and it was great for us. We had a wonderful midwife who we loved and were so happy to be home. Our pediatrician even came to our home for new baby visits Pretty amazing at the time and good for us. He was elderly and had been my husband’s pediatrician when he was a child!!
Happy for you – wishing you the best
I appreciate your generosity in sharing about essential oils and recipes – I was inspired to purchase an Instant Pot because of a post that you did. Thank you!
