Easy Homemade Shower Gel
So I really wanted to make a homemade shower gel but I assumed it would be difficult to make…but, as with any learning curve, I soon discovered it was super EASY! This homemade shower gel will take you less than 5 minutes to make once you have acquired the ingredients. It has a nice suds action and is very moisturizing as well.
Plus this recipe for homemade shower gel is fully natural, non-toxic, and you can use whatever essential oils you like to make it smell divine. I will say I am partial to the scent in this recipe because it smells FANTASTIC…but you can use whatever essential oils you prefer!
This recipe comes from my ebook, Homemade Mommy Beauty Essentials available on Amazon. Do you have my latest ebook yet? If not, check out the reviews here and get yourself a copy!
I just want to note that this essential oil blend smells crazy good…and guess what? Ylang Ylang and Idaho Blue Spruce together are supposed to be great for getting in the mood…if you know what I mean! So enjoy this in the tub or the shower! As I said before, you can whip up a batch of this homemade shower gel in less than 5 minutes and I usually make it once every few months. I dare you to try this homemade version!

Can’t wait to try it
What will happen if I leave out the vegetable glycerin? I have the other main ingredients on hand (I’ll have to sub other essential oils, but no biggie), and I don’t really want to buy any more ingredients for all my natural/DIY experiements!
I don’t use any vegt glycerin at all and it works just as good!
I really want to make this! What if I wanted to make it with citrus oils. say grapefruit or orange? Would that be too drying? I am also curious if the veg glycerin has to be used?
Sure – this recipe is a starting point and you can experiment with whatever essential oils you want to use!
You may want to do a little research into one of the ingredients in Dr Bonners soap. Check out. What is actually labeled as Citric Acid.
Is it possible to add water to this and put in one of those suds pumps where you put soap and add water then when you pump you get suds instead of gel?
Hey,
Can you use a regular pump as opposed to a foaming dispenser?
Thanks!
Laura
Hi there,
Soo excited to try this! I have a feeling it is not good to put this in a plastic container, but please tell me why. I want to make this for my kids, but not wanting to put a glass jar in their bathroom…
Thanks!
~Ratika
You should be fine putting this in a nice sturdy plastic pump container.
This shower gel smells great, foams up beautifully, and made my skin soooo nice and soft – thank you!
